Born Fighting: How the Scots-Irish Shaped America

Born Fighting: How the Scots-Irish Shaped AmericaA good friend, a fellow Scot-Irish, living in Houston, recommended this book to me. Written by James Webb, former Congressman and Naval Secretary, the book chronicles the saga of this proud (some even say overly so) ethnic group in the establishment of the country cent rues before and how they continue to shape political thought.
I found the book easy to read and interesting, but clearly from the perspective who believes that 27 million of us who claim Scots-Irish ancestors continue to be driven by the same ethos as the original emigrants. It was interesting to learn that people as diverse as Ronald Reagan, George S. Patton, John
Wayne, and Bill Clinton claim the lineage.
